About Lori
My Expertise and Certifications
Hi, I’m Lori, and I’m a Certified Birth Doula through DONA (Doulas of North America). I have been a doula since 2018 and received my VBAC certification in 2023. I’m also a Registered Sonographer with years of ultrasound experience since 2016, and a Certified Car Seat Technician since 2019. When you hire me as your doula, you gain access to all three areas of expertise to ensure a comprehensive and supportive birth experience.
How my Journey Began
My passion for supporting women through childbirth began at a young age when I convinced my parents to allow a pregnant friend to live with us when she had nowhere else to go. When I became a single mom, I continued helping pregnant women in need by offering them a place to stay. Before I even knew what a doula was, I was a birth partner for one of these women. And without realizing it, I had doula support through my own special support person during my labor and delivery.
The experience of having strong support during my own childbirth empowered me, making me more confident in all aspects of my life.
The Calling to Become a Doula
When I was offered the chance to take doula training for one of my jobs, I researched it and immediately knew this was my calling. I’m passionate about educating, encouraging, and empowering women to create the best birth experiences possible.
Lori’s Personal Life
I’m married with one adult son, a daughter-in-law, and a grand-dog named Indy. In my free time, I love spending time with my family and church community, hiking, driving my convertible, and taking Harley rides with my husband. I also enjoy tending to my perennial garden and planting flowers in the spring.
